Happy Spring everyone! We hope you are enjoying the sun/rain/sun season! Just like the weather, we have some big changes happening here at The House of Tattoo! 

We would like to start by thanking all of you for your continued support through the ups and downs of the years(especially 2020)!  You guys are the ones who keep this place going, and we really, really appreciate you! Since we reopened back in July, y'all are definitely keeping our artists busy! While we would love to take as many walk-ins as possible, our artists have been super busy lately! We don't want to discourage anyone getting tattooed on a walk in basis, so please do keep calling, but please understand if we cannot get you in on short notice. Most of our artists are booking out weeks or months in advance, and some have closed their books due to high demand, but you never know when we might have a last-minute opening! Also, we will have two apprentices available soon for smaller tattoos, so be sure to ask about them! We do, as always, recommend booking a consultation as that is the best way to get a guaranteed spot and an accurate estimate on your tattoo, so please consider setting one up if we can't get you in for a walk-in! 

We have two new apprentices!!! Please join us in welcoming Jodie and German to our crew! Both apprentices have started tattooing and are currently taking consults so please give us a call for availability! We will be posting their artwork here soon, so stay tuned! 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: One of our beloved artists is moving on...

We are sad to announce that another one of our artists has moved on. Carson completed his apprenticeship in 2014, alongside Miles. Ever since he has evolved greatly as an artist, growing leaps and bounds in his tattoo style and ability to make amazing art. We are sad to see him go but incredibly proud of all he accomplished during his time here. If you would like to reach him, the best way to do so is through his personal artist website koacreativestudios.com. 

We here at The House of Tattoo are here to continue making your ink dreams come true! However if you have a piece started by Carson or have been waiting for him to open his books, we understand and strongly encourage you to connect with him. If you had an appointment that needed to be rescheduled in the last few months, we recommend that you contact him directly. 

WE ARE STILL IN PHASE ONE OF REOPENING!! 

Here in Multnomah County, we are still in phase one of reopening, and we have luckily been allowed to stay open during the freeze under certain restrictions. We will update here as well as on our Facebook page as soon as anything changes. If you have not yet read our new rules and restrictions, please click the link below to view our previous updates. 

Winter is here! That means the holidays are coming, and we are here for you! We have Gift Certificates available for Ben, Nate and Say! The gift certificates are artist specific, so feel free to check out their portfolios to find the artist that best fits your needs! Due to the current restrictions we do prefer purchases in person to be in cash for the quickest transaction, but we can occasionally sell them over the phone and email a digital gift certificate to you. Just give us a call and we will do our best to meet your needs! 

With the cold weather, cold and flu season has returned... 

We do ask that if you need to cancel an upcoming appointment that you give us as much notice as possible, but we understand that illness doesn't keep to a schedule. If you feel any cold or flu-like symptoms, let us know as soon as possible and STAY HOME! We understand the need to get that new ink, but please be considerate of other peoples health and safety. We do temperature checks for everyone who comes in and if your temperature is too high, we will send you home immediately. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter, as we do bring it up every year, but this year it is more important than ever! 

We are almost to the end of 2020! We appreciate all of you and your continued love and support during this crazy year. We especially appreciate your patience and understanding. We are excited to move forward! Stay safe and healthy everyone! 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: One of our beloved artists is moving on...

We are proud to announce, however a bit sad, that Miles will be leaving The House of Tattoo at the end of October and entering a new chapter in his life. Miles completed the apprenticeship in 2014 and has been a cornerstone of The House of Tattoo ever since, filling the walls with artwork and completing thousands of tattoos in his signature 'Miles' style. We are sad to see him go, but we wish him all the best on his journey. Feel free to reach out to us for information as to where you can find him in the future, but the best way to reach him is to contact him directly at Milesbrowneart@gmail.com. 

We here at The House of Tattoo are available to fulfill all your inky desires! However if you have a piece started by Miles or would like to consult with him on a new piece we completely understand and will do our best to connect you with him. If you had an appointment scheduled after the 31st or are on the cancellation list and have not yet been contacted by Miles, please reach out or contact him directly via his e-mail.

Winter is Coming... 

It's a great time to bundle up or curl up on the couch with a hot beverage and a good book(or Netflix.) It's also the best time to get tattooed! Summer may be the best time to show off your tattoo, but winter is the best for healing! Contact us now to schedule for winter, and you'll be healed up and ready to show it off when it gets warm again(but don't forget the sunblock!) 

Also a friendly reminder when you're layering up: keep your clothing loose around your fresh tattoo. As tempting as it is to throw on your warmest pair of socks or leggings, tight clothes rubbing on a fresh tattoo is not recommended or comfortable. Keep it loose and keep it clean. Turn up the heat and let it breath! 

2020 is quickly coming to a close, and it's been a heck of a year. We appreciate all of you, your support and your patience during an unprecidented time and we hope to see you all safe and happy in the future! Stay healthy and keep your heads up!

Important Announcement from The House of Tattoo!!

Hello everyone! We hope you've all been staying safe and healthy! As Multnomah County reopens today, we, out of an air of caution, will remain closed until the beginning of July. This is to ensure we are fully prepared to come back and start providing you with the best service available! There are some new guidelines for when we do reopen that have been put in place by The Oregon Health Authority. This is what we will require until further notice:

-It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you answer our day before and weekly reminder calls. The state is requiring us to ask screening questions before proceding with your appointment.

-To enter the building you MUST wear a MASK or other face covering. We are limited on supply, so please remember to bring your own. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If for some reason you cannot wear a mask, please let us know ahead of time and we will reschedule you for a time that they are not required by our business and the state. This is an Oregon Health Authority requirement during Phase 1 and keeps us all safer. 

-Temperatures will be taken with a no-contact thermometer. No one with a fever will be allowed to enter.

-We ask that upon entering the building you wash or sanitize your hands before filling out paperwork.

-When you arrive for your appointment, we ask that you wait outside or in your car. We will call you when we are ready for you.

-Unfortunately we can not allow any visitors during your consult or tattoo appointment. We ask that you arrange rides to be picked up or dropped off in the parking area to limit the amount of people in the shop. 

-We will not be accepting any walk-ins during Phase 1, only scheduled appointments. Please call ahead for availability.

These guidelines are in place to keep all of you and our artists safe. Please respect the guidelines, as they are required by the state for us to resume business.

Important News from The House of Tattoo

We at The House of Tattoo have decided out of the communities need to quarantine, we will be closing our doors until April 1st at the soonest. On that date we will re-assess the situation as more information becomes available. We appreciate all of you and your continued support in the many years we have been here and we hope to be back and serving you again as soon as possible! If you were scheduled for an appointment between now and April 1st we have already called you to reschedule, so please check your messages and give us a call back. 

For now, we will still be coming in for limited hours to respond to messages, e-mails, and shop cleaning, however we will not be open to the public. On or before April 1st we will update everyone on our ability to reopen on that prospective date. 

In the meantime, if you would like to and are able, you can still support local businesses and your favorite artists by purchasing gift cards! Gift cards can be purchased in person when we are available or via card over the phone! A digital gift card will then be sent via e-mail! If we are not in when you call, please leave a message or shoot us an e-mail and we will respond as soon as possible. With most artists being self-employed, your support means everything right now. Thank you, and please, stay safe out there.

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE HOUSE OF TATTOO!

The House of Tattoo will remain open for all regular days and hours until further notice. We have always dedicated ourselves and take pride in our clean procedures, and we are confident in our cleanliness. That being said, please do your part to keep yourself and those around you healthy! If you are or are starting to feel sick, PLEASE DO NOT COME INTO THE SHOP! If you have an appointment scheduled, as soon as you start feeling ill, please give us a call and reschedule! We understand that sometimes these things are unavoidable, but we would much rather reschedule than risk your health, ours, or that of other clients. Thank you, and please stay safe out there! 

On a related note, at this time we do still plan to attend the Villain Arts Expo May 1st-3rd. If this changes, we will update that information here as well as on our Facebook page, so stay tuned!

Disclaimer: Only valid for walk-ins, not pre-scheduled appointments. Must be at least 2 hours per person. Not valid on/with gift certificates. Based on artist availability, first come first serve basis. 

The holidays are quickly approaching! Have an upcoming appointment with us that you just can't make it to? Let us know ASAP so we can try to utilize that time and keep our artists busy! When you book an appointment with us, we do let everyone know it is not refundable and comes off of the total tattoo cost, but if you don't give us enough notice when you cancel your appointment, you will lose your deposit and will be required to bring in a new deposit in order to reshcedule. Most of our artists ask for at least a few weeks notice for cancelations, which gives them enough time to fill that spot and preserve your deposit. We understand that losing your $50 deposit may be upsetting, but please keep in mind that your artist loses the rest of the total for that appointment and the time. Even if your appointment is for a free touch up, give us as much notice as possible! We do offer free touch ups within one year of finishing your tattoo, but if you reschedule last minute, you may be asked to pay for your touch up appointment. If you wait until we call to remind you about your appointment, it is too late! Call us before we call you!!!

The Annual Portland Tattoo Expo is Coming!!!

Hey everyone! The 11th Annual Portland Tattoo Expo is right around the corner, and we are looking for our next collaborative tattoo canvas!! We are looking for someone interested in getting a full back tattoo over 2-3 days by at least three of our artists: Big Ben, Carson and Miles! Please give us a call and come in for a consult if you are interested in being the next big deal at the Expo!! 

Conditions for collaborative tattoo: 

Must be over the age of 18 with valid ID

Must be available October 11th-13th

Should be willing to sit for several hours and multiple days

Must be flexible on design

Should have clean canvas(would prefer not to be a cover, but not ruling it out!)

Summer has finally arrived! You know what that means: it's time to go out and play!! Just remember, sunblock sunblock sunblock!!! UV rays are your tattoos worst enemy and we can't tattoo over sunburns, so keep the SPF handy! Headed out on vacation? Don't forget to check your appointment dates and give us a heads up if you need to reschedule! 

On a related note, The House of Tattoo will occasionally be closed for special events! We will post the dates here, as well as on our Facebook page, so don't forget to check in and please call ahead before stopping in just in case!

Hey everyone! Fall is finally here, and now is the perfect time to get tattooed! Call the shop to book a consult with any of our incredibly talented artists! Already have an appointment booked, but just can't wait? Don't forget to call us on Saturdays to get on your artists waiting list! 

We would also like to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to see us at the 10th annual Portland Tattoo Expo! We hope you enjoyed the expo and got a chance to see the collaboration in progress, and see our apprentices painting live! You guys rock! We hope you had as much fun as we did :)

Important Announcement for 2018!!

An Important Announcement from The House of Tattoo!

We have managed to keep our hourly rates from changing for over a decade now, thanks to all of you!

Alas, costs still continue to rise and with the Minimum Wage increase this year(and we all know our staff is well worth increased minimum wag), so we will finally need to be increasing our artists hourly rates. This increase will take effect January 1st, 2018. Thank you for understanding that our quality of tattooing and art is worth the necessary rate increase.

As of January 1st, 2018, rates will increase as follows:

Big Ben will go from $120 per hour to $150 per hour
Carson & Miles will go from $100 per hour to $120 per hour

Wait, what if you already have an appointment scheduled with an artist?? Don’t worry! Until December 31st, 2017, our rates will stay the same as they are now, so get your appointments booked for this winter now! Booked with Ben in January?? Call us on a Saturday and we will pull you in sooner!!

**CUSTOMER APPRECIATION BONUS!!** We are offering a deal to help with this transition! If you come in and buy a Gift Certificate between now and December 31st, we will honor your Gift Certificates at our current 2017 rates until March 31st of 2018!

Spring is here!

Mark your calendars, the first day of Spring is March 20th! 

This brings up a few important thoughts regarding your tattoo appointments, as well as planning ahead for aftercare during weather changes.

Spring is a busy and GREAT time to get tattooed. The weather in Oregon is still mild and makes healing a breeze. If you are planning on a large multi-session piece, especially in a hyperexposed area such as a sleeve, you'll want to get started soon. Summertime is not ideal for healing pieces of that size and that sunshine can really beat up fresh ink.
